Alex Garland really shows the world how sci-fi should be done. He knows that the number one most important thing is atmosphere and the feel of the world around the characters. From the eerie statue of a girl in a dress looming over an entire forest, to the nighttime landscape of Silicon Valley, to the haunting soundtrack, this miniseries has so much to offer. This quick 8 episode show starts off as a mystery/conspiracy story and slowly but sure evolves into an in depth analysis of human choice and scientific advancement. Should there be a limit on how much knowledge the human race should have? Is there even a point in living if everything you will ever do from the moment of conception is predetermined? It is a show that messes you up on the existential scale. From a technical standpoint, it’s pretty much flawless, except that sometimes I found Sonoya Mizuno’s acting to be a bit rigid. But even so, she is still interesting as an actress in general. All in all, a wonderful show that makes me have some faith in Alex Garland, but I still have yet to see Men so that might change.
